I have to inform you that your letter of October 9th enclosing copy of Ordinance No. 9 of the
Gov
Legislature of Hong Kong consolidating and amending 4922r
the law relating to the sale of Poisons and asking to be furnished with any observatione the Society may have to offer on Parts 1 & 2 of Schedule A to the Ordinance has received the careful consideration of the Law Committee and Council of this Society.
I am directed to suggest that in Part 1 of the Schedule the entry respecting Opium should be amended by omitting the words "one or more per sent of Morphine" and substituting therefor the words*0.75 or more per cent of Morphine".
It is also suggested that the following arti- clés should be added to Part B of the Scheduleƒ-
Poppies, all preparations of, excepting Red Poppy
Petals and Byrup of Red Poppies (Papaver
a s}
Ammonia
Soluble Salts of Oxalic Acid.
Such alteration and additions would make the Schedule more in conformity with that attached to the Poisons and Pharmacy Act 1908 and the Orders in Council made in pursuance of Section & of that Act.
I am, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
The Under Secretary of State, Colonial office,
